North Balochistan areas including provincial capital Quetta received torrential rains between Thursday and Friday night. The Met Office sources told APP here on Friday that torrential rains hit North Balochistan cities including Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Kan Mehtarzai, Loralai, Killa Saifullah, Mastung, Kalat, Bolan, Nushki, Pasni, Gwadar and others.

The Met Office recorded 20mm rain in Quetta and accumulation of water on city roads and streets was witnessed. Flight operation at Quetta Airport was suspended. The torrential rains also damaged mud and makeshift houses in Quetta and other cities. In Quetta, main city roads including Jinnah Road, Prince Road, Sharah Iqbal, Zarghoon Road, Kawari Road, Sarki Raod and others were being witnessed like that water streams due to fast flow of rainwater. Hundreds of telephones went out of order.

Ziarat and Mehtarzai areas received six inches snowfall in the city and over one foot on the hills. The snowfall also disconnected these cities from other parts of the country. The rains, which had been lashing for 24 hours proved blessing to farmer community as they were facing acute shortage for their fruits gardens and crops.
